André Zangerolano, representative of World Wine, part of the La Pastina Group in Brazil, explains that Brazilian consumers seek wines that reflect their region of origin. "We look for wines with good acidity, balanced oak aging, and unique production methods, such as amphora-aged wines," he says. He also notes a growing demand for wines with lower alcohol levels, which he sees as an emerging trend in the Brazilian market.
Although Zangerolano does not claim deep expertise in every Spanish wine region, he highlights a few that stand out. "I'm very familiar with Rioja, especially Rioja Alta, Campo de Borja, and Ribera del Duero. I also had the chance to visit Uclés briefly. From Brazil, we focus primarily on well-established Denominaciones de Origen such as Catalonia, Penedès, and Andalusia. Thanks to Sherry, Andalusia is attracting more attention in Brazil," he explains.
Zangerolano underscores the importance of storytelling in wine sales. "In a competitive market like Brazil, where wines from around the world are available, a compelling story makes all the difference. Brazilian consumers value knowing the origins and traditions behind each wine," he says. He also highlights the increasing importance of sustainability. "Today, consumers are not just looking for organic wines—they want to know how wineries care for the environment. Sustainability is now a key factor in purchasing decisions," he adds. World Wine takes pride in being a leading importer of wines from wineries with sustainability certifications.
FENAVIN: A STRATEGIC PLATFORM FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS
Zangerolano sees FENAVIN as an excellent platform for strengthening business relationships. "I have always considered FENAVIN a great trade fair for establishing connections. Beyond providing the opportunity to discover new wineries and market trends in Spain, the fair makes both starting and finalizing deals more accessible. It is a unique opportunity for importers from outside Europe, as it allows them to meet with wineries from multiple regions in a single day," he concludes.
FENAVIN continues to establish itself as a key event in the wine sector, serving as a meeting point for Spanish wineries and international buyers like André Zangerolano.
