In recent years, Spanish wines have gained a firm foothold in the Italian market, emerging as an attractive alternative to local offerings. This is confirmed by FENAVIN's delegate in Italy, who will participate in the upcoming 2025 edition of the fair. "High quality and the distinctiveness of a grape variety with a Protected Designation of Origin" are currently the two most highly valued characteristics of Spanish wines among Italian importers, he affirms.

This is further reinforced by their excellent quality-to-price ratio—a key factor positioning Spanish wines as a competitive alternative to certain higher-priced Italian labels. "Although Italian wine remains a pillar of our cultural identity, Spanish wines bring originality and a fresh perspective that has sparked a genuine oenological dialogue between the two countries," he emphasizes.

As for the best-known Spanish wine regions in the Italian market, La Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and La Mancha stand out for their prestigious and full-bodied reds. Other regions such as Catalonia (with DOs like Penedès and Priorat), Andalusia (with the historic Sherry wines), and Galicia with its distinctive Albariño are also well recognized.

From a marketing perspective, the distributor highlights the growing importance of storytelling and sustainability as key differentiators. "The Italian consumer has evolved: they seek experiences, new culinary trends, and wines that tell an authentic story or offer a modern approach. Sustainability in the production process is also becoming an increasingly decisive factor."

When it comes to FENAVIN, the distributor's opinion couldn't be more positive. "The fair is an outstanding platform to connect Italian buyers directly with Spanish wineries. The regional diversity represented and the fair's efficient organization make FENAVIN an unique opportunity to expand our portfolio with top-quality Spanish wines."

With testimonials like this, FENAVIN 2025 once again reaffirms its role as a key international meeting point for the Spanish wine sector, with a clear commitment to professionalism, innovation, and new market opportunities.
